This piece was so much fun to work on. As soon as i saw it i knew it was going to be an ocean themed piece, and really wanted to lean into the weathered Oak feel of it.
This piece is completly solid oak, and very old, when I was renovating it I found messages from others over the years, a signature from the 90s and a signing from some modifactions that were made to it in 1954. Im guessing it was originally built in the 30s or somewhere around there, and boy was this piece built to last! It is very sturdy and strong.
I didnt want to sand this piece right back and try to make it feel new again, I decided to let it be as much as possible, as it just feels so tactile!
The piece was thoroughly cleaned and treated, and then sanded lightly and primed. I painted the piece with a couple of really fresh blue chalk paint colours, a white wax top, and of course added the beautiful deep sea dancer Octopus. Ocean themed drawer liners and the nautical rope and brass ring pulls bring the whole new look together.
I really love how fun and unique this piece is, i hope it finds a home where it will continue to be treasured!
2 massivly deep drawers theres loads of storage space for toys, fish food and pirate treasure!

This piece has been finished with wax to protect the paint and decoupge. To clean just wipe over with a damp cloth.
Please note this piece has been refurbished but is still a very vintage looking and feeling piece. All the drawers run fine and there is no damage at all, however the piece does have some small dents and scratches under the paint work that are all part of the charecter of it. This is reflected in the very low price for a solid Oak piece of unique furniture.
